What is Lifestyle Medicine?

Lifestyle medicine is a branch of medicine that utilizes evidence-based methods to prevent, treat, and manage chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or even orthopedic problems like chronic back pain, by making changes in lifestyle with the guidance of a physician. Lifestyle medicine focuses on assisting patients to stay active, sleep better, eat more healthily, improve social connections and mental health, and reduce harmful substance use. It also considers broader factors affecting an individual’s health and well-being, such as poverty, health inequality, and ecological health.

Plant Based Nutrition

Plant-based nutrition focuses on consuming whole, minimally processed foods derived from plants. This diet emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and seeds, promoting optimal health and reducing the risk of chronic diseases.

Exercise Therapy

Exercise is the most significant way to improve health and decrease pain. Appropriate exercises can increase strength, improve flexibility, and reduce back pain. Most of the doctors accept that exercise plays a vital role and is considered as one of the most important treatment options in the recovery of back pain. Our back is stressed by the demands we make on the body every day in the life.

Stress Management

Stress management is defined as techniques or methods employed in the treatment or management of stress. Stress is the body’s normal response to the psychological or physical demands of life. It is a natural part of life and occurs as a reaction to specific triggers that can put you on edge or cause you to worry. Stress can fluctuate at home or at work, while challenging situations and other life transitions can also trigger it. Occasional stressors are harmless to our body health. In fact, stressors can be used to motivate or push us to work towards achieving important goals or to come out of a tough situation.
